christmas pageant 2008

last wednesday was miles' preschool's christmas show. last year he wasn't that into it, this year, he was totally into it and remembered most of the words to all of
the songs.  what
made this year even more special was that miles'
nana, played the piano for the show.  it was super cool.  also miles got to play one of the three kings.  his line was "great gifts we bring"... too cute.  i got a little teary eyed, this was miles' last christmas show in pre-school.  we will be signing him up for kindergarten in february, can you believe it?  i am going to try to post from boston, as well as try to post some pics from my december daily book.  merry christmas to you all... xoxox

family get together

grandma benetia passed away about two weeks ago. we had her services this passed weekend. they were very, very nice. on friday night we had a rosary done in her honor. i had never been to a rosary before, so i wasn't sure what to expect. it was very nice. i really enjoyed it. then on saturday we had her services. it was another very nice service. david did a slide show presentation... very touching.  we had a little reception after the services at papa jerry's house. all of her children were there and many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

another december day

when i was a freshman in college, my mom sent me a miniature christmas tree and ornaments to put up in my dorm room.  my room was a favorite to visit because of my tree.  the tree was put up every year after that.  when david and i went on a christmas cruise with his family years ago, i packed the tree in my suitcase and set it up in our room on the ship.  again it was a big hit.  so when miles was born, we set up the tree in his room.  once he was old enough he got to help put the tree up and decorate it.  another ebner christmas tradition.  we put the tree up last week.  miles kept asking when are we going to put a tree up in maisy's room?  i don't have a tree for her room, so i guess i'm going to have to get one.  i think i'll wait until after christmas and get it on sale. doing this december daily book, has really made me realize we do have a lot of traditions during christmas.  i can't wait to go home and relive the traditions i had as a kid.

maisy is not a crawler...

i took this of maisy about a week and a half ago. she is so funny, because she doesn't crawl, but does the "army crawl"... she will get up on all fours, and rock back and forth, but she won't stay that way and crawl... i know i am the mean mommy in this video, i keep moving the toy she is trying to get.

a fun tradition

it started last christmas, when miles was old enough to actually decorate the gingerbread house instead of just eating all of the candy.  this year he could not wait to get going on our gingerbread house. last year, we had a gingerbread house kit that came with a mold type thing which helped hold up the sides etc. this year we got the wilton gb house and we had to mix our own "glue" and there was no mold to hold it together.  but we made due, and i must say miles did an amazing job.

celebrating the season

this year since we are going back to boston for christmas, we did not get a real tree, so we have our fake tree for the years we are going to be out of town.  we dragged it out of storage and i put it together yesterday.  today mile and i decorated the tree.  it was so much fun watching him pick out his favorite ornaments and hang them on the tree first.  then we would talk about all the other special ornaments we have and the stories behind them.  usually i am very picky about not bunching ornaments together, but miles did a pretty good job at spreading them out, so it didn't bother me.  miles told me "our tree looks fantastic".  i just love that kid.  maisy just hung out under the tree while we decorated.  she kept trying to but the plastic ornaments in her mouth.  i love christmas and i am now finally getting in the christmas spirit.  decorating the tree always helps. while i was at my crop this past weekend, i made my 25 days of christmas book.  i can't wait to add these pictures to it.  it is going to be such a neat way to remember all the fun things we do during the christmas season.

this was the first year i have taken the kids christmas card pictures.  usually i have luis at reflections take the picture and then i order the cards through them.  this year i decided i wanted to save some money, so i told myself i'll do it.  i dressed miles and maisy up set them up out in the front yard and started shooting away.  miles complained the whole time that the sun was in his eyes and he was hot.  all maisy did was pick grass and eat it.  so i moved them to the front porch, in the shade.  things were going better until miles grabbed onto maisy and she "kind of" fell over, i just kept snapping.  these three pictures were some of my favorites.  i love that mile has his fingers in his ears so he doesn't have to listen to his little sister freak out.  need less to say we were done.  i did get a few shots good enough for the christmas card, but i thought it would be really funny to use these pics.  just got to love the holidays.

fun hair...

when i went to get my hair done last week, i told myself i am either going to go back to my natural color, light brown or add some fun pink to my hair. i think you all know me well enough, i went with the pink. not very much, just enough to get a taste and see if i like it. the pic isn't that great, but you get the idea. also it's pink on both sides of my head, but these were the only good pics i had. when i put my hair up, you can hardly even see the pink. maybe i'll do holiday colors for christmas. he he he!

the disappointment called twilight...

i think if you have not read the book, the movie would probably be an okay movie.  but if you have read the book, then i think you are in for a big disappointment.  i know people say the book is always better than the movie, but i had high hopes for this one.  well it didn't happen.  and i should have known.  there is no way to put edward and bella's relationship into a 2 hour movie. this is just my opinion, let me know what you think.

i still love edward though...  he can sparkle for me anyday!

this is exactly what i thought:
ASSOCIATED PRESS
Verdict: Negative
"But much of what made the relationship between Edward and the smitten Bella Swan work in Meyer's breezy book has been stripped away on screen. The funny, lively banter -- the way in which Edward and Bella teased and toyed with one another about their respective immortality and humanity -- is pretty much completely gone, and all that's left is a slog of adolescent angst." —Christy Lemire

slo children's museum

so after a long, long, loooong, wait, the slo children's museum has reopened.  now i had never been to it before they remodeled, so i have nothing to compare it to, but i thought it was boring.  not a whole lot to do there.  miles liked it and i guess that's what's important.  but here's the thing.  i walk in the front door, pay my $16 and get ready to head in. the girl behind the counter tells me that miles will really enjoy the 3rd floor.  we take off to the elevator, and she then informs me stroller parking is around the corner.  i told her, i was going to be taking the stroller because i have maisy.  she then tells me sorry we don't allow strollers in the museum, we have a baby bjourn you can borrow.  i'm like what no strollers... she explains to me there is not enough room on the floors to have strollers.  ok, last i checked it was a CHILDREN'S museum.  but oops, i guess i shouldn't have made any assumptions.  anyway, i'm sure we'll be going back again.  it is a good place to spend gloomy, cold days.

i was asked to make invitations for my father-in-law's christmas office party.  the theme is denim and diamonds.  just wanted to share what i came up with (with help from my girl jr-thanks). actual denim pocket and lots o' bling!  i printed the invitation on the back.  i think they came out really cute... what do you think?

pj day

i walked into miles' school before him, on the morning of halloween. all i heard was "miles is here, miles is here"... ok, he hadn't even walked in the door yet. the girls were running to the door to say hi to him... it was too cute. here is miles with the girls...  they are all in their pj's, because his preschool does a pajama party instead of wearing costumes to school. even miss sally wore her pj's. she wanted to make sure we saw that she was wearing spongebob square pants pj's...

MADONNA

oh what a night!  jody and i went to see MADONNA on thursday night in LA.  first things first, traffic SUCKED! it took us nearly 2 hours just to get into dodger stadium.  the tickets said the show was suppose to start at 7:30.  we knew that the show wouldn't start at that time, but we got into the stadium at 9:45 and the show still hadn't started.  we heard a rumor that madonna was going to cancel the show because the stadium so so empty (yeah, 'cause we were all stuck in traffic).  but only about 15 minutes later at 10, lights went down and madonna took the stage and as usual she did not disappoint.  i knew that being in LA, the show would bring in a lot of "star" guests.  i guess J-Lo, carrie underwood, heidi klum and a-rod were in the audience. of course we didn't see them, but we did run into jorja fox, from CSI.  i love CSI and was so excited to get to meet her and get my picture taken with her.  she was super laid back and cool.  the highlights of the night were when rumored performers actually showed up to perform.  my girl britney and wouldn't kick him out of my bed justin timerlake....  soooo exciting.  britney looked amazing and jt was as fine as ever.  (see video clips below, sound is bad, but you get the gist).  jody and i had the best time!  we can't wait to see the queen of pop again in the future.  for those of you who were wondering, this was my 4th madonna concert.  1st one... the virgin tour (1986), 2nd...re-invention tour, 3rd... confessions on the dance floor tour and 4th... sticky and sweet tour (2008)  22 years rockin' madonna!
