first field trip
today we headed to avila barn with maisy's preschool. at first i was thinking maisy and i would just drive up together in our car, but about 2 weeks ago maisy started saying "school bus tomorrow?" i asked her teacher if they had been talking about the trip? miss martha said it's on their calendar and they count to see how many more days until the trip. i have to say we were both excited to learn that maisy really is listening. anyway... we had a wonderful day, the weather was perfect, maisy loved riding on the bus. we picked pumpkins, had ice cream and hung out with our friends. i'd say we had a pretty successful first field trip.

fall festival 2010
remember this post from last year?... once again, miles was super excited to attend his school's annual fall festival. he was so happy that dad was going to be able to make it this year too (he was out of town last year). the weather was kind of yucky, but that didn't stop all the kids from having good time. mr. dana even returned to do the sponge toss. last year, maisy wanted nothing to do with any of the activities, this year, i think she may have had more fun than miles. she was such a good girl. she waited patiently in line, and when she was done, she picked out her candy and walked out. at the end of the night i wanted to get miles' picture in front of the fall festival sign. i didn't even think about asking maisy if she wanted to take a picture she always says no. well, she saw miles and said "maisy take picture now." she got down on one knee to pose, she looked at the camera and even smiled. all in all, a great night was had by all.

and on sunday
we headed to avila barn to take a hay ride and pick out a pumpkin. the weather was beautiful, we got there earlier enough so it wasn't too hot or too crowded. then when we got home, we decorated the outside of the house for fall/halloween, i'll post those pics later. we ended the day with a delicious dinner at papa and sam sam's house. what a wonderful weekend.
love this pic, but i wish she was looking at me
i could never get maisy to look at the camera. she would smile a great smile, but she would look off in another direction.
maisy loved riding on the hay ride to the pumpkin patch
she was busy looking for the "perfect" pumpkin
my friend joanna and her family were at the barn at the same time we were, so we hung out together. miles and alley got to hang out on saturday at aubrey's birthday, so they hung out again on sunday. i think if they hung out more, there might be a little budding "romance". they are so cute together.
ok, let me explain this amazing picture of my crazy daughter. she LOVES to jump on things. at home, she'll climb on a chair near the couch so she can jump onto the couch. at avila barn there is this neat little hay play area. maisy climbed up on the edge and next thing i knew she was jumping. i snapped the picture thinking she was going to jump and land on her feet. oh no, she jumped and landed on her stomach. OUCH!!!! she didn't cry, but she came to me... "mommy, hurt tummy" ya think?!
