crib time

the other day i was cleaning up in maisy's room, putting clothes away etc.  i had maisy in her crib while i was working.  miles came in and was talking to maisy, next thing i know, miles is in the crib with maisy.  it was too cute, he was laying there talking to her and trying to entertain her.  it was so funny to see him in the crib... i can't believe it has been two years since he has slept in that crib, and with time going by so fast, it won't be long before maisy will be sleeping in a big girl bed.  for some reason, i guess because she is my second, time is going by way too fast.  i try to savor and enjoy everyday.  we spend alot of time on the floor playing while miles is a school.

"milesisims"

miles loves telling stories and to talk about what he is doing during the day, but at times i really have to think about what he is saying and attempt to translate some of his words.  i thought it would be fun to share some of the "milesisims"...

piggy jank = piggy bank 
fluffe = flute 
narble = marble
tomato = tornado
naybe = maybe
renember = remember
bitar = guitar
pecuter = computer
magic gwand = magic wand
smoochie = smoothie

pretty funny huh? 

 it is so much fun to watch/hear him explore language.  his big thing now is rhyming words.  whenever we are in the car, he'll ask what rhymes with ____?  and i'll give him a list of words that rhyme.  he is still having a hard time with the concept, because he'll say hey mom snow and snowman rhyme don't they?  he'll get it eventually, but it is just so much fun listening to him figure it all out.

disney part II

it was so nice that david and i were able to give miles all of our attention on his birthday.  this happened all thanks to meri, who hung out at our hotel with maisy all day.  at one point during the day, meri took maisy for a walk to downtown disney.  meri said she couldn't resist going into the disney store and trying hats on maisy.  meri must be a scrapbooker at heart, because she took these adorable pics.  i love the one of maisy looking at meri, you can tell just by looking at her, how comfortable and happy maisy was hanging out with "auntie" meri.  thanks again meri... we love ya "pookie"!

disney birthday

miles turned 4 on august 4.  4 yeah 4, i can't believe it either.  my baby is not a baby anymore.

david and i decided a while back that we were going to take miles to disneyland for his 4th birthday.  and we were so glad we did, we had an amazing time. thanks to joanna, we decided to get a babysitter on miles' actual birthday and take just him to the park.  also a big thanks to meri for watching maisy for us.  i was really able to enjoy my day knowing maisy was in very loving, capable hands.  miles was sooo happy to have both his mom and dad all to himself on his special day.  we got to ride all the rides together, first one being space mountain.  we didn't tell miles anything about the ride other than it was a roller coaster.  they have redone space mountain, and i think it is even darker and faster than before.  that being the case, we couldn't see or hear what miles' reaction was to the ride... that was until we go off the ride.  tears were flowing and he said "mom, why did i want to go on that ride?" he got a sticker, a hug and a kiss and we were on to the next ride. we didn't want to make a big deal about it, so he wouldn't freak out about it all day. he didn't, and the funny part is, if you ask him what is favorite thing about disneyland is, he tell you space mountain... kids just crack me up.  i am so glad we decided to do this for his birthday... we all really enjoyed ourselves and the time we got to spend TOGETHER, something we haven't been able to do in a very long time.

                                                                  i think i told most of you i was getting the kids pictures taken by a woman named anni.  we had them done about 2 weeks ago.  she has taken pictures of of my friend kelly's little girl and my friend joanna's family.  i LOVE her photos!  well she put a sneak peek of our session at avila beach on her blog.  i can't wait to get the cd and see what the rest of the photos look like.  the pics above are the few she posted on her blog.  THANKS anni!!!  both kids were so good, but maisy was awesome, she had no problem laying half naked on the cold sand in her tu- tu.  i just love the pic of miles and maisy, it really shows their relationship... miles loves to entertain maisy, and maisy is just in awe of her big brother.  i'll show you the rest of the pics as soon as i get them.  

first day of pre-k

miles has been going to the same pre-school he went to last year, all summer, but as a summer camp.  monday was his first official day of school.  he has a new teacher, miss sally and he is going everyday this year.  also two days a week miles is staying for a full day so he gets to "nap" at school.  of course he is not a napper, so i kept reminding him he at least had to rest, no playing during nap time.  when i picked him up today, miss sally said he did a really good job and rested.  the pictures above are from yesterday.  he was so tired when i got him up, he said he didn't want to go to school.  of course scrapbooker mom had to get pictures of the first day.  miles was not in the best of moods, and when i asked him to stand under the welcome sign, he made a pathetic i don't want to have my picture taken face. i LOVE the picture of miles and miss sally, they both look so excited to see each other and be at school.  miss sally was showing miles where his new cubbie was. last year miles was in the tiger class, this year he is a lion.  i can't believe at this time next year, miles will be a kindergartner. YIKES!!
