oso flaco

while i was at the mega crop, david watched the kiddos.  friday night they just hung out at home.  on saturday, david decided to go for a walk at oso flaco.  i was hoping he took some great photos, but it was too windy to pull the camera out.  david did manage to take a couple of pics, and they crack me up.  david carried maisy in a back carrier.  it is made so it can be put down with the baby in it and still stand up.  this way the baby has somewhere to sit and it makes it easier to put on and off.  well here is maisy in the backpack.  i think she looks like a catcher for the red sox.  david said she was such a good girl and just smiled the whole time.  she is so happy all the time, she's always got a smile on her face.  she is sweet, adorable, lovable and snuggly.  for someone (me), who never wanted a daughter, i am overjoyed with having a daughter.

last friday and saturday, i had the chance to do some scrapbooking at jr designs.  i thought i'd share the layouts i created.  i worked mostly on getting miles' 4th birthday at disneyland  done.

this one is total old school to me, i don't usually use this type of stickers, but it kind of works for this layout.

"but i'm not tired mom"

so what do you think, was miles tired or not? as some of you know, david and i have been working on getting miles to go to bed by himself, meaning we don't need to lay with him for him to fall asleep.  we've been sticking with it, but it is a battle everynight. tonight i was not in the mood.  i told him he had to snuggle on the couch and fall asleep... "but i'm not tired mom" was the response i got, this is what miles looked like about 2 minutes later.   he'll fight it and fight it and then he crashes hard!  poor thing, he's an open mouth sleeper, just like his mom... not pretty at all. 

bath time

i usually sit maisy in her bumbo on the floor in the bathroom while i give miles a bath.  while miles is playing in the tub, i put maisy's feet in the water.  it was obvious she wanted to get in the water with miles, so i thought why not.  maisy does not sit by herself yet, but miles was more than willing to be the awesome big brother he is and hold her.  

she absolutely loved sitting in the warm tub with her brother.  she kept looking at the bubbles, not really sure what they were.  she had fun splashing and kicking her feet. 

i can't believe how big both my kids are getting.  it seems like yesterday, i was still giving miles a bath in the infant tub.  now he is holding his 6 month old little sister in the big boy tub.   

time is moving so fast.  i am trying to treasure every minute of everyday.  when i am having a bad day and can't pull myself out of "the funk",  all i have to do is look at my two beautiful, amazing children and know that life is truly good.

i was so excited when i saw a big envelope sitting on my front porch yesterday.  i was pretty sure it was my pics from anni and it was.  she did a great job here are a few of my favorites...

"big papa" visits

david's grandfather earl, came to visit us from oregon.  he made some other stops before he came to us, but he spent the last three days of his trip with us.  it was so nice to see him and how well he is doing.  oh yeah, earl is 84 years old.  he is a riot, telling jokes and stories about growing up and raising his kids.  he is also a philosopher, and told me all about his studies of religion and science, pretty interesting.  he really enjoyed spending time with the kids.  he read books to miles and watched tom and jerry cartoons with him.  it was so cute to watch the two of them cracking up about tom and jerry.  he just was lovin' on maisy.  he loved watching her play in her exer-saucer and especially thought she was funny when she was eating.  he couldn't get over her big appetite. he also just loved to hold maisy every chance he could get.   maisy, earl and i went to pismo beach for lunch and a walk on the pier.  unfortunately david had to go out of town while earl was here, so he didn't get to spend as much time with him as he wanted to. oh, i forgot to tell you why we call him "big papa".  david grew up calling his grandfather papa, but miles already has a papa so we had to explain to him that this was a different papa.  i said he was like a big papa, while it stuck.  miles would wake up in the morning and ask "where's big papa?" or "mommy big papa is asleep on the couch."  i thought it was really cute.  we drove big papa to the train station in san luis on friday, and it was so sad, because he started crying when we said goodbye and left him.  i am so glad he got to spend some time with his great- grand kids.  

another water baby

it's tradition when a grand baby is ready for the hot tub or "the soaker" as we call it, papa jerry is the one to do it.  miles loves to soak and does so just about every time he is at papa's.  now we have another water baby.  papa took maisy for her first soak a few days ago, and she absolutely loved it.  i am so glad that miles is so comfortable in the water.  we started him in swimming lessons when he was 6 months old.  maisy is going to be starting them soon.  from the looks of it, i think she is going to be just as comfortable in the water.

a little creativity

here are some of the most recent scrapbook layouts i have done.  the first 2 are my very favorite.  i am going to a two day crop at the end of the month, and i hope to get good deal of maisy's scrapbook caught up.  i finally finished her 1st year calendar/mini scrapbook.  i will post pics of that soon.  

guess where i am going?

i was thinking today, that i would really like to see madonna in concert again, i saw her on her very first tour back i the 80's, and i have seen two more of her concerts, one when i was pregnant with miles, and one either last year or the year before. i just thought what the heck, i'll see if there are any tickets available. i logged on to ticketmaster and entered all the information. the first set of tickets to come up were floor tickets row 18. i was psyched... because the show is at dodger stadium, i really wanted to be somewhat close because the stadium is so big. i bought the tickets immediately, not even thinking about plans, schedules or any of the other "stuff" that usually stops me from making trips like this. so november 4, i'll be in l.a. dancing and singing away with "madge" yippee i am so excited!!!

maisy was in such a good mood today, and she is starting to say da da da. well when i made the same sound, this was her reaction....

"somebody likes cereal"

we went to lunch on sunday at chili's, and all maisy wanted to do was eat our food. i figured this was a sign she was ready to start eating solid food. this video was taken sunday night... what do you think, does she like cereal?

family fun at the ravine

david has been working crazy hours lately.  i have kind of been feeling like a single mom.  his deadline at work is the end of this week,  we are all looking forward to getting back on our regular family schedule.  luckily, david had yesterday and today off so we got to spend a lot of quality time together.  yesterday we slept in and then had a late lunch at chili's.  miles has been seeing all the new clone wars toys and has been jonesin' to the see the original star wars movie.  so miles and david went to best buy and got it on dvd.  the two of them snuggled on the couch and watched the whole thing.  david said miles was totally into it.  today we got up and headed to the water slides in paso.  we had a blast!  we rented a cabana which was so helpful since we had maisy with us.  i was able to set up the pack -n-play for maisy to nap and play in.  unfortunately miles wasn't tall enough to ride the big water slides, but he had a ball on the kiddie slides, the wave pool and the lazy river.  maisy LOVED the lazy river too.  i think we will be spending alot of time at the ravine next summer.  the day ended with a delicious dinner at papa and sam- sam's (david's dad and step-mom).  we had a wonderful two days together.  can't wait for david to be done with this job, and we can get back to having our fun family weekends again.
