earlier in the day, miles and i were arguing over something, he told me he wasn't going to talk to me for the rest of the day. i told him that would be great, i'd have a nice quiet, relaxing day. he got mad that i said that, then he said (and this is the part that cracked me up), then i'll just call you dad all day... like it's an insult. when did the word dad become a fighting word? ha ha ha, just had to share .

the best little boy ever
every week in miles' kindergarten class they have share day. tuesday is miles' specific share day, the teacher sends home a list of what to share on the child's day. this week, the share was suppose to be something orange. miles looked and looked around the house and couldn't figure out what he wanted to share. i was giving maisy a cup of goldfish crackers to eat and it came to me. i asked miles if he wanted to bring fish crackers for his orange share? i told him i'd make baggies of crackers for all the kids in the class. he said, "mom, that's a great idea." i started to walk away to get dinner ready, and he tells me, "mom, you're the best mom i've ever known." and gave me a hug and a kiss. made my day!

the lake
this past weekend we headed up to lake san antonio with papa, sam sam, jody and bryan. we met up with some friends there. it was a beautiful weekend, sunny and hot. i was amazed how low the water level was, but fortunately it is still deep enough to enjoy a boat ride or a pull in the raft. we were in our bathing suits all weekend. miles loved swimming with daddy and bryan. it was maisy's first trip to the lake, i wasn't sure how she was going to do. she LOVED it. she played in the sand, went swimming with daddy, played on the waters edge, went on a boat ride and even got pulled on the raft. it was so funny to watch her on the raft. she just sucked her thumb, laid her head back and almost fell asleep. she liked it best when we went over some waves, then she would perk up and giggle. miles just loves camping, he enjoys swimming in the lake, sleeping in the motor home, driving the boat and sitting around the campfire. if he could camp every weekend he would. camping is something both david and i did growing up, and i am so glad we are passing it along to our kids and they are enjoying it so much.

the wiz wiz story...
miles knows the real word for his private part, but he thinks it's funny to call it his wiz wiz. with that said, here is a conversation miles and i had the other night while i was cooking dinner. please understand there was no reference of this or conversation that preceded this conversation, to make him think about this...
i was standing in the kitchen, miles just came out of the bathroom and with all seriousness he asks me...
miles: mom, have you ever wondered what it's like to have a wiz wiz?
me: (taken by total surprise) no, not really.
miles: well, it's good, it's comfortable.
me: (trying not to burst out laughing in his face) that's good, i'm glad your comfortable.
miles walks off into the other room, and i finish cooking dinner, cracking up on the inside.
where does he come up with this stuff????

my goldfish and catfish are swimming again...
on monday the kids started their swimming lessons again. maisy is a goldfish which is a parent and me class and miles is a catfish. maisy is the only one in her class at the time and miles has 5 kids total in his class. since monday was a holiday, and david had the day off, he got to go swimming with maisy. the kids had a great time. maisy's teacher got a kick out of her because of how loud she is and the way she "talks" up a storm, but she's really not saying anything. i love having the one-on-one time with maisy and miles love being the big boy who can swim all by himself.

labor day weekend 2009
so far we have had a very fun and relaxing labor day weekend. saturday, we just lazed around, had dinner at papa and sam sam's and then went to see GI Joe that night... (if you are a 12-14 year old boy, you'll love this movie) david's company worked on some of the shots in this movie, and i have to say their stuff looked awesome. then today, we hooked the bikes up on the back of the car and headed to the bob jones trail in avila. auntie charlotte is in town visiting, so she came along with us too. maisy was able to enjoy the bike ride as well from the front of daddy's bike. the other day i was picking miles up from school and i saw this awesome kids bike seat. i went straight to the bike shop and ordered it. maisy loves it because she gets to sit in front of daddy and see everything that is going on instead of looking at his back. the weather was beautiful. when we got to avila, we sat in the shade and let the kids play at the playground. we had a delicious dinner at papa and sam sam's (again) and then the boys relaxed in the hot tub. not sure what's on the plate for tomorrow, but i am sure it will be more family fun in the sun.
