treat bag part 2

i posted pics of maisy's treat bag a few days ago, and in that post i wasn't sure what or if i was going to make one for miles. my
friend christy suggested i do the words star wars on one side and miles' name on the other in the star wars font... so here it is. now, it is far from perfect seeing that i decided to start it today at 1:00.  but, when miles saw it he said "mom, i LOVE it" so that made it perfect. i'll be posting halloween pics tomorrow.

i'm going to try... are u?

bows, bows, bows...

my very talented friend joanna makes these awesome bow holders.  she had some extra materials to make one and she graciously gave them to me to make my own.  so here it is... now understand this was my first try, and there are a few things i'd do differently, but generally i am pretty happy with it. it looks adorable in maisy's room, and all of here bows are organized now. thanks joanna!!!

a few more pics from the pumpkin patch

these pictures are courtesy of auntie jody.  i was so glad she got a picture of maisy with her "hoochie" shirt.  since it was so hot, i decided to pull her shirt up. i am also glad she got pics of maisy "talking" to the goats.  jody said maisy got right down in the goats face and was just chatting it up, like maisy knew how to speak "goat"... too funny.   thanks jody for all your help with the kids yesterday and for getting these cute pics.

pumpkin patch

i have been wanting to take the kids to the avila barn pumpkin patch for a while. i wanted to go during the week when it was less busy, but we just never made it. so today since auntie jody was in town we decided to brave the crowds and go today. of course we pick a day when it's 90 degrees YIKES! maisy loved the hay ride out to the pumpkin patch and miles loved picking out the "perfect" pumpkin.  after the hayride back, miles and auntie jody went into the hay maze...( i hate that thing, so i was very glad jody said she would go with him.) did i mention, david came with us on this trip, but was feeling very sick and ended up sitting in the car with the air conditioning on.
after the hay maze, we went to get some ice cream in the barn. they have the cutest little ice cream cones, the perfect size for maisy. she wanted nothing to do with it. which was really weird, becasue maisy LOVES ice cream. we paid for our pumpkins and headed to the car. we were driving back home, maisy, jody and miles in the back seat, david in the passenger seat and me driving. we are all talking and listening to music. all of a sudden, while maisy is "talking" to jody, she vomits all over herself.  that explains why she didn't want any ice cream and was a fuss bucket most of the day. when we arrived at sam sam's, maisy ran into the living room, jumped up on the couch and vomited again. so needless to say, our trip to the pumpkin patch was not the best visit.  i didn't even get a good picture of the kids together.  i may have to make another trip during the week just to take pictures... pathetic i know, it's the scrapbooker in me.

(we had breakfast out this morning, and maisy and david had the same thing to eat, we are thinking maybe that's why they were both feeling so crappy)

dunlap's fall festival

every year miles' school does fall festival as one of their fundraisers. being this is miles' first year at dunlap, i didn't really know what to expect. as we got out of the car in front of the school, we could hear the music blaring. miles just looked at me and said "mom, it's the FESTIVAL!!!!" each room had some kind of game in it, like football toss, skee ball and golfing.  they also had tattoos, face painting, cotton candy and popcorn. but the thing miles wanted to do the most was hit mr. dana (the school principal) with wet sponges. he got to throw 3 sponges at him and the last one he threw hit mr. dana in the ear... miles was pleased as punch.  it is so neat to see miles be a part of school. he sees his friends, knows some of the teacher and is just truly a "citizen" of dunlap school.  i can't really explain it and it sounds so sappy, but i am just so glad miles LOVES school.

ok, i took the challenge...

here it is... maisy's treat bag for this halloween.  now i did mine before i got the directions from my friend joanna, so i did mine a bit different, and smaller. i figure, maisy is not going to be eating much of her candy, she didn't need that big of a bag. so i only used two sheets of felt, and i used ribbon for the handles. as you can see, maisy is going to be a ladybug for halloween.  now, i wanted to make one for miles, but he is going to be commander fox from the star wars clone wars. what the heck am i suppose to put on his bag?  if you have any clever ideas, please let me know asap so i can put one together for him.

miles' first kinder field trip

miles' class went to windmill farms in arroyo grande with there big buddies class. miles was so excited for me to meet his big buddy.  he told me on the way to school in the morning, "mom you are really going to like my big buddy."  he was a nice boy and really watched out for miles. i think at one point they were even holding hands. we walked around the and visited with the animals, then we went under the tent, where the kids got to plant a broccoli plant and eat lunch.  it was fun
because while we were waiting, mrs. brown (buddies teacher) played a game with the kids.  before we left all the kids got to pick out a pumpkin to bring home. (watch for post with miles' decorated pumpkin)  i liked windwill farms, but not nearly as much as avila barn. i missed taking a hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick our own pumpkin.

my "B" boy...

miles started basketball tonight.  it's a rookie leauge.  i was a little worried when we walked in and saw the little kid nets. i thought for sure miles was not going to be happy about that.  but he didn't say a word.  so every time the kids meet they will practice and learn different techniques and skills.  then on the last day they will have a big game. miles did great and he came out and told me he loved it. i was so happy to hear that. so i'll keep you updated on his progress.

my other dancer...

while miles is at school, maisy and i have fun playing, dancing and singing songs.  today was no different.  maisy wanted to put on miles' tap shoes, so i had to take off her footie pj's (that's why she's in her diaper) she knew exactly what to do, she just started tapping away.  i was cracking up... of course when i asked her to do it again, this is all i got and after this she wouldn't do it at all... enjoy!

welcome october

i was never a big fan of halloween before i had kids. i did go to halloween parties, but i never really decorated the house. well, now that i have children, i love halloween and decorating for it. i also love getting the kids halloween clothes and jammies. having a girl makes it even more fun. so here is one of maisy's halloween/fall outfits. the leggings were a dollar at target as well as the headband. i just love the look of her stripped leggings with her black converse hightops (which were miles' when he was little). so keep an eye out for more halloween/fall outfits throughout the month.

student of the month

about three weeks ago, i got a call from miles' school informing me, he had been selected as one of the students of the month for his classroom. i kept it a secret from miles so he would be surprised when we showed up.  on september 25th, david, sam sam, auntie charlotte, maisy and myself went to his classroom to be there when he received his award. he was so excited. mr. grigsby called him up to the front of the class and told the reasons he picked miles for student of the month. he said miles was a great artist, a good friend and a hard worker.  then mr. grigsby asked the boys and girls in the class if they had anything nice to say about miles. it was really nice.  the cutest comment was from one little girl who said "miles always has nice hair".  i am so happy about miles' year in kindergarten so far. he is very happy and is excited to go to school everyday.  keep up the good work bug boy... you make mommy and daddy so proud!
