all year at preschool, miles' teacher, miss sally has been telling the kids that when they get to the letter Z, it will be time to go to kindergarten. miles just finished his Z homework. he was so excited he wanted me to take his picture with his LAST homework. now he doesn't actually graduate until june, but i thought i'd put up this picture form the first day of preschool, and the picture of him with his Z homework. i can't believe how much he's changed in 8 months. where has my little boy gone?

um, mom it's kinda brown...
we headed to san francisco this weekend to celebrate our friend's daughter's first birthday. it was a beautiful day. they had her party a crissy field, which is right by the golden gate bridge... really cool park. miles had a blast scootering and throwing stones into the ocean. the weather was perfect, a little windy, but not too
cold. miles enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool at the hotel and maisy, well i don't think maisy enjoyed anything. she just yelled and cried most of the time. she is definitely not the little traveller miles was and still is. we'll just have to keep working on it. on sunday we slept in and went swimming. we then packed up and headed out. i wanted to go to a scrapbook store in berkeley, but only if i could have an hour to myself to look around and shop. david had no problem with that, he knew a park he could take the kids to. so he dropped me off at scrapbook territory and i was free to take my time and enjoy a kid free hour or so. this place is pretty big and has lots of paper and stamps. they are very big into stamping. but i still got some fun stuff, paper i hadn't seen before and other goodies. then i got to hang around on 4th street in berkeley, cool little street with all kinds of fun little shops. we were going to grab a bite to eat there, but of course our little miss was cranky, so we decided to hit the road and grab some food along the way. here's where MY favorite part of the story happens. we stopped at the kfc in atascadero because miles had to go potty. he comes out and his nose is just running like crazy (he's had x-rays of his sinus' and is on mega doses of augmentin) so i have him blow his nose really good. he give three big blows, when he was done i said "i know this is gross miles, but look in your tissue and tell me what color it is?" i did this because i want to know if he is getting better... clear boogies good, yellow boogies bad. he looks and says to me, "um, mom, it's kinda brown." now i look in the tissue and i see what i assume to be the biggest booger i have ever seen. being intrigued by the size, i take a closer look... i yell "miles that's not a booger, that's a corn kernel!" here is the conversation that took place next...

miles: uh huh
me: when did you put the corn up your nose?
miles: at grammy's house
me: at grammy's house, are you sure?
miles: yup!
me: miles, we haven't been to grammy's house since christmas.
miles: well that's when i put it up there.
me: are you sure? you are telling me the truth?
miles: yup!
so i decide to dissect the corn kernel and i must say it does look like it could have been up his nose since january, (i won't go into details). of course david and i gave him the whole "you NEVER put anything up your nose speech" and miles said h
e was sorry, but it was all i could think about the rest of the ride home. after the kids went to bed i googled, exactly these words, corn kernel up nose and this was one of the sites it brought me to CLICK HERE i read this whole story and thought to myself this is our story, miles has been through all the same thi
ngs the little boy in this story has been through. i e-mailed the author of the blog to see what happened, did they finally find something up her son's nose. she e-mailed me back and said they never found anything, she thinks he just suffers from bad sinus'. i am interested in seeing, now that miles doesn't have corn up his nose if all of his sinus problems go away... i'll keep you all updated.
so all in all we had a good trip and yes, the corn kernel is in a dated plastic bag.

our new favorite playground...
everyone has been telling me about the new rice ranch park. i wanted to go last week, but since it was so windy we never made. finally on friday the wind quit and it was warm, we headed over with lunch. i LOVE this new park. places to walk, play and picnic. it's clean and close to home. someday miles will probably be playing little league games there. i think it will be a popular place for us to visit this summer. i am going to try to be good and walk there a few times a week.

another trick...
while my mom and dad were here, maisy figured out how to drink from a straw. my mom just let her try to sip from her drink and there she went sucking away and actually getting something up the straw. i had been trying it with her, and she would never do it. the funny part about this is when miles was little and my mom and dad were visiting, we were at a restaurant tin AG, and my mom did the same thing, just let miles try to sip from her straw and he did it. so both my kiddos learned how to drink through a straw with their grammy!

walking update...
tonight was a special night for maisy. we got home from a birthday party at chuck e. cheese, i gave maisy some yogurt, washed her up got her into her pj's and headed to the living room to play for a little while. let me back up a little bit... we have been practicing walking with maisy every chance we get. she is doing great walking with us with one hand. and she buzzes around the furniture with no problem, but she will not stand by herself. as soon as we let go of her hand she sits right down. ok, back to tonight... maisy just started letting go of the furniture and standing all by herself. she'd then sit down and miles and i would clap for her. she continued to do this about 5 more times and would even clap for herself while standing. then out of the corner of my eye, i see maisy stand up from a sitting position and stand for a few seconds!!! oh my, it was so exciting!!! i'm thinking all of a sudden its just going to click and she's going to be walking any day now. will try to post pics tomorrow. way to go little girl!!! mommy is so proud of you!

happy easter
it was a fun and relaxing easter this year. it started out with all of us, including maisy sleeping until 10AM! yes, 10AM! miles and maisy found their baskets from the easter bunny went through them and played for a while. we had a small breakfast, took baths and showers and went out to see if the easter bunny did a egg hunt for the kids. of course he did. maisy found a chocolate egg and put it in her mouth foil and all. she loved every bit of it! as you can see from the pictures, we had a beautiful day blue and sunny skies!
