letter to and from santa

miles was very excited about writing his letter to santa this year.  i told him he could ask for 5 things, but that santa may not bring all five things. the first thing he wanted to ask santa for was the biggest lego set santa could find. it was number one on the list, number 2 was a big skateboard. after that he really could think of anything else to ask for. i explained to him that it was fine just to put two things on his list. santa listens all year and pretty much has a good idea of what you want. but since i told him five things he HAD to write down 5 things. the letter is below, when you read it, you can tell he was reaching for ideas.

then on december 22, miles and maisy both received special delivery packages from the north pole. santa had written them both a letter. maisy even got a bell from rudolph's collar. it said that miles and maisy's elf on the shelf "russ" had reported back to santa saying we were going to be out of town on christmas and that david was not going to be with us on christmas maybe it would be nice if santa could make a special visit.  so we left cookies out that night just incase... check back to see if the big man shows up...

this year i hope to be a better friend, daughter, sister, auntie, mother, wife niece, cousin, listener and helper.

these women are awesome. when we get together it's like we haven't been apart.

rain, rain go away...

in santa maria, we are used to warmer, sunnier weather, but for the last 5 days we have had rain... NOTHING but rain. we are not used to this much rain, and our cities are not ready for this much rain, so there has been a lot of flooding and unfortunately many car accidents. our house has had really no damage other than a little bit of water on the edge of the rug near our slider in our bedroom. there has also been some fun with the rain. in sam sam and papa's backyard, there is a HUGE puddle. last night when we were over for dinner and usually after dinner papa and the kids go for a soak. last night was no different, but this time they took turns between soaking and playing in the puddle. they were having so much fun, even papa joined in.

the christmas shows...

 miles had his show on wednesday and maisy's was on thursday, they were both adorable.  miles played a goose in the "twelve days of christmas" song... soooo funny. then maisy was a little christmas tree with two of her friends. i guess when maisy went backstage she cried a little when she had to put her tree costume on. so when she came out on stage she was hiding her eyes being shy. she didn't sing much, but she did stay on stage, so that was a big accomplishment. at one point she started pulling all the "ornaments" off of her tree and of course the two other trees joined in. after the show one of her teachers said she spent some time cleaning up all the things maisy picked off her tree, but also said maisy had the front row cracking up. that's my girl... make em LAUGH!  miles and maisy you did an amazing job and really got me into the christmas spirit!

maisy scissor hands...

 the other night maisy was in and out of her room "playing" she came out and said "mom, cat is sleeping in my room." i didn't pay much attention, but did tell her to be nice to the cat. she was in her room for a while, i could hear her talking, so i "assumed" she was playing with her kitchen. later when i went to get her dressed for bed, this is what i walked into. one, she had pulled clothes out of her drawers and two, she gave jack our cat a bit of a haircut. it looked like edward scissor hands had got a hold of our cat, there was hair all over. maisy got a hold of a pair of scissors and decided to trim jacks tail. poor jack has BIG chunks of hair missing from his tail. she is sooo naughty.
