you did WHAT?!?!?!
it was beautiful outside on sunday, but we had some cleaning to to before we could go out and do anything. i was organizing the crap i've collected in my bedside table, david had finished cleaning the bathroom, and was watching and taking pics of maisy since she had just gotten up from a nap, and miles was "quietly" cleaning his room. next thing i hear is miles come running out of his room crying, david asks what's the matter, and he just runs straight into my room and into my arms. he wouldn't talk for a minute then the truth came out, "mom, i put a bead in my nose, and i can't get it out." i immediately get the flashlight and look up his nose. i couldn't see anything. we called david's dad, he told us to bring miles to the office and he'd take a look, but he was pretty sure he didn't have the right
tools to get it out. papa jerry looked up his nose and he confirmed it, miles had shoved a bead up his nose and according to papa, it was pretty far up there. he didn't have the needed tools, so he suggested we go to the ER. luckily when we got there, there was only one person in front of us. so we got to see the doctor almost immediately. (by the way, we had dr.Wienstein and she was AWESOME!) she looked in his nose and said the same thing as papa. the bead was definitely in his nose and it was stuck way up there. the dr. held closed the side of miles nose that didn't have the bead in it and had me put my mouth over his mouth and blow. i felt the air come out of his nose, i did this twice, but no luck the bead only moved as the dr. said "a scosh". it was decided he would have to be sedated. my stomach got sick. dr. weinstein explained he would not go under general anesthesia, but something like a twilight anesthesia. he would be awake, but no one would be home. it was so scary to see him in such a state. his eyes were twitching back and forth and he was just looking right through us. the dr. came in and tried to remove the bead. she had some alligator tweezers as well as some kind of suction device. at one point she quickly looked in miles' throat. she decided he swallowed the bead. it was no longer in his nose. i was glad the bead was gone, but i wanted the bead in my hand, that way i would know for SURE the bead was out of his nose. i guess i just have to trust the doctor's expertise. all in all we were only in the ER for 2 hours or so, not too bad. miles told me on monday on our way home from school, he thought he could put the bead up one nostril and it would come out the other nostril. i just had to laugh. miles has promised NOTHING else up his nose, in his ear, mouth or any other body orifice. i have thrown all the little beads away. the video below is of miles coming out of his anesthesia... it is reminiscent of the youtube video "david after the dentist"

he's graduated...
from a car seat to a booster seat. i know, i know, i waited a long time before i moved him, but he still fit in his car seat and he didn't mind sitting in it, but i knew he'd be more comfortable in a booster. part of the reason i waited so long too, is that it took forever for miles to get to 40 pounds. he's finally barely there... 39.8 lbs. he has to get used to using the seatbelt himself... he could get himself in and out of the car seat no problem, but this one, right now i have to buckle him in... (not liking that) it seems like in the past couple of weeks, miles has grown up so much. he's getting taller and more mature. wish i could slow him down, but from now on we'll be hitting the road running... no stopping him now.
