uh oh!

i can't leave maisy alone for one second.  if i do, she heads to everything she is not suppose to have, and her first choice is to get into the cat food.  usually i can stop her in time, but for some reason this time i couldn't get to her fast enough and this is what i found her doing...  i love the picture of her with her wide eyes, like she is saying " oh shit i've been caught".  and miles being the good big brother tries to get her out of the mess.  this is how he carries her around the house when he wants her away from what he is doing... too funny.  boy oh boy does she keep me on my toes, but i wouldn't want it any other way!

discovery museum...

the other day miles asked if we could go to the museum i haven't taken him to i a long time.  you know the one where you can plant things,  i knew he meant the santa maria discovery museum.  i hate this museum... but miles could spend HOURS there.  i try to take the kids to the park or outside some where a few days a week after school.  it was really windy the other day, so i figured it was the perfect time to go to the museum.  well, i am happy to report they have updated the museum at bit and added some new exibits. like the vets office, and a whole "under the sea" area for the little kids to play in.  miles of course loved the "tar pit" area, and the giant bubble.  we ended up spending about 2 hours there, playing and making things from recycled materials.  all in all a fun day.

on a happier note

we had really weird weather yesterday... rainy then sunny. i knew there was going to have to be a rainbow.  sure enough we came out of mc donald's and there was a beautiful rainbow.  miles was so excited.  he said mom take a picture, this is my first rainbow.  he has seen other rainbows, but i think this is the first one he remembered.

everyone is safe and sound...

as for david's car, that is a different story.  At about 2:45 today, i got a call on my cell phone from david, nothing unusual, he'll usually call to say hi to me or the kids.  but when i answered the phone this time, all i heard david say was " hey hon, i just totaled my car."  i could hardly understand him and asked again what he said.  "i just totaled my car". i asked if he was ok and said i'll be right there.  he was coming home from lunch and was about to exit the santa maria way exit.  those of you who live here, know it's been raining.  he said he just lost control of the car and it skid, broke through a fence and went down a ditch.  they did not flip, thank goodness, but still his car it a mess, totaled as he described.  i feel so bad, because david really loved that car.  at least him and his passenger, a co-worker, were uninjured.   on a funny note, kcoy, the local news station showed up and videoed his car being pulled out by the tow truck. i said to the guy must be a slow news day, he said yeah and now they want interviews and everything.  so those of you in the area may see david and his car on channel 12 or 24 tonight.

tar pits

about 3 weekends ago sam sam (grandma), papa, me and the kids took at trip to la to visit auntie jody and charlotte and go to the tar pits  i had never been and didn't know what to expect.  it was a really nice trip.  the tar pit museum is great. lots of fossils and the grounds the museum is on are beautiful.  next time we go i'll know to bring a picnic so we can spend more time hanging out.  it is so weird, the tar pits are smack dab in the middle of the city, not where you'd expect them to be.  miles loved it and frequently asks when we can go back to the dinosaur museum? We also celebrated jody's birthday while we were there.  we ate an awesome rib dinner at huntington rib co. lots of fun.  it was a quick fun trip with the family.

auntie cha's early b-day...

auntie charlotte was in california for a month working on her medical degree.  we got to see her three times while she was here.  we got to go to the la brea tar pits with her (i'll post pics later),  i got to go to the movies with her and miles and maisy got to spend quality time with her too.  on her last night here, we took her out to dinner for her ummm...21st birthday, yeah her 21st birthday.  we had a yummy dinner at shaw's and she really enjoyed her b-day gifts.

i don't think i've told you this, but maisy loves everything you give her to eat.  she has never made a face at anything i've given her... eggs, jello, steak, mushrooms, asparagus, carrots, prunes and as you can see in the pics, even pickles.  we are trying to get her into the habit of trying everything at least once.  so far so good.

february in california...

the weather in santa maria has been amazing.  i've been taking the kids to the park and maisy and i sit on the grass in the front yard to watch miles ride his big wheel around the cul-de-sac.  david didn't have to work on sunday, so be decided to go to the beach, have lunch and let the kids play at the park.  people were in their bathing suits and swimming in the ocean.  the kids were in their bare feet and just loving the amazing weather.  maisy had a blast swinging in the swing and miles and david had fun throwing the frisbee.  i LOVE this weather and really don't miss the cold winters at all.
