The Birthday Girl

We let Maisy pick where she wanted to go for lunch on her birthday, we thought she'd pick Casa Manana or Applebees...  She picks Chuck E. Cheese, are you kidding me? David and I hate that place, but it's what she wanted so we didn't even question it. She had a blast running around playing games and collecting tickets. All in all it was a fun time. When we got home, we Skyped my parents and my brother and his family. I just love technology, they got to sing to Maisy, watch her blow out candles and open her gifts from them. It felt like we were all in the room together. It was a really nice relaxed day, and Maisy loved every minute of it.

I think she looks about 12 in this picture.

Maisy did not want to show her face. She loves this game and we played it over and over.

Celebrating Maisy's 4th at School

Bubble favors for the kids.
We are not having a big birthday party for Maisy.  After doing all the big parties for Miles, I learned they are too much work and the kids don't even really get it. So instead I made cupcakes and brought them to school. Maisy wanted a Cat in the Hat birthday this year, so I got her a Cat in the Hat dress and made Cat in the Hat cupcakes. Maisy got to pick what she wanted for lunch, of course she picked McDonalds. I brought her ballons and stayed to eat with her. After cupcakes Maisy passed out the bubble favors. It was a fun little party. On Sunday, Maisy's actual birthday we are going to go out to eat, get a manicure and open presents.
Special McDonalds lucnh.

Cat in the Hat cupcakes I made... Yes I made these.

LIVE with Kelly

A few weeks ago I was watching LIVE with Kelly and they announced that they were going to be in LA filming an after the Oscars show. All you had to do was sign up for a chance to get tickets to see the show. I forgot I even signed up, but about two weeks after I got an e-mail saying congratulations, you got tickets to the show. I wasn't sure if I was going to go, but I thought what the heck when will I get this chance again. I invited my sister-in-law Jody to come with me because she lives down in Costa Mesa. My mother-in-law decided to come too because she hadn't seen Jody's apartment and she thought it would be fun to be in LA when the Oscars were happening. Susan and I drove down on Saturday and spent the night at Jody's. We had an awesome dinner and spent the next day shopping. We headed up to LA late afternoon. Our hotel was on Sunset Blvd. walking distance to the Kodak theater where the Oscars were happening. We decided to walk up and see what we could see. We were disappointed when we got to Hollywood and Vine and the whole block was shut down. There was security everywhere. They wouldn't even let you walk by. Oh well. We had another great dinner and headed back to the hotel to watch the Oscars. Jody and I had to get up at 2:00AM to be at the Hollywood Bowl to take the bus to the Kodak Theater. After being told by the parking lot attendant that they had closed and were not letting anyone in, we made it. We had to wait outside for about 2.5 hours, but then we were on the bus and in the theater. It was pretty cool thinking that just a few hours before movie stars were walking through those halls and sitting in those seats. The show was great. Neil Patrick Harris was the co-host and the guests were Octavia Spencer Best Supporting Actress winner for The Help, and Best Actor Winner Jean Dujardin. Cirque de Soliel performed and Isaac Mizarahi gave the best and worst dressed report. Kelly Ripa is hilarious and so small. We had a really fun time and glad we took the time to go.

We were seated in the very top balcony.

Blurry, but that is Octavia Spencer and her OSCAR.

The spouses, Mark Consuelos, Kelly's husband and David Burtka Neil's husband.

This is where the red carpet was. By the time we got out of the show, they had already torn it up.

Opening Day 2012

What a great 1st day of baseball. It was a long day, but a lot of fun. Opening ceremonies were at 8:00 am, so we were up at 6:30. Maisy's game was at 10:30, her pictures were at 12:30, Miles' pictures were at 2:15 and his game was at 3:30. Thankfully I was able to drop Maisy off at Papa and Sam Sam's after she was finished.
Maisy was all excited for her game, but when we got out on the field and didn't want any part of it. She didn't want to wear her glove, etc, etc. I kind of just left her and sat on the bleachers. Coach took her and she was fine. She played out field where she dug in the dirt and twirled around. She did a great job hitting and running the bases, which was a huge accomplishment for her. You can see in the pictures of her running the bases she has a big smile on her face. She was very proud of herself.

Miles did great too. I didn't get any pictures of him playing, because I ended up in the dugout keeping the kids in check. The coach asked for a parent to help out, so I volunteered. Miles did great. He had some big hits and he did really well playing 1st base. One of his plays helped the team to win
6-5. I love the baseball season, and I think the kids enjoy it as much as I do.

I had to alter her shirt, it was like a dress on her.

Youngest, smallest and only girl on her team.

Love the smile on her face.

First in line to give high fives!

Little Slugger

We have another little slugger in the family. We signed her up for T-ball this year. She is on the "Scrappers". She is the smallest, youngest and only girl on the team. So far practices have been going pretty well. We have been working on running to 1st base after she hits the ball instead of running after the ball.
She has her first game on Saturday, I hope to get some video to share with you all.
